Is this the year a Canadian team finally takes home the Stanley Cup?
Residents from coast to coast will be eagerly watching to see if the Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets or Toronto Maple Leafs can break a championship drought that’s lasted 26 years.
However, if the EA Sports playoff simulator is correct, it will be yet another NHL season ending in tears for Canadians.
Using NHL 19, EA Sports has unveiled the results of its simulation and it’s bad news for any fans of the Canadian squads involved this year.
The simmed NHL playoffs has the Flames, Jets and Leafs all losing in the very first round and the Tampa Bay Lightning winning it all.
Of course, the simulator isn’t always right, but it has been on point with predictions in the past.
They successfully predicted the Nashville Predators would make the Stanley Cup Final in 2017, despite having the fewest points of any playoff team.
They also successfully picked the San Jose Sharks to make the Final in 2016.
Since the Montreal Canadians won the cup way back in 1993, the Vancouver Canucks (1994 and 2011), Calgary Flames (2004), Edmonton Oilers (2006) and Ottawa Senators (2007) have all made it to Stanley Cup finals only to come away empty handed.
