The 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts kicks off in Ontario tonight – beginning 10 days of intense curling action.
The tournament will feature 18 teams, split into two pools, each playing eight games before a playoff, which is scheduled to begin next Friday.
Team Homan is the favourite rink to win the 2025 event as they are the reigning Canadian and world champions.
The Ottawa-based rink consists of Rachel Homan, Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew, Sarah Wilkes and Rachelle Brown (alternate).
The reigning champions will also have legendary curler and six-time Scotties champion Jennifer Jones coaching them. Jones retired at the end of last season and fell to Team Homan in last year’s tournament finale.
Team Homan dominated the 2023-24 season, boasting a 67-7 record, seven wins in 10 events and an undefeated run to the 2024 Scotties titles.
Another favourite to win the title and represent Canada at the world championship is Kerri Einarson’s rink.
Team Einarson consists of Kerri Einarson, Val Sweeting, Karlee Burgess, Krysten Karwacki, Lauren Lenentine (alternate) and coach Reid Carruthers.
The Manitoba-based skip won the Scotties for four consecutive years before Homan’s rink took the top spot last year. Now with a couple of new names on the team, Einarson has her eyes set on returning to the Scotties throne.
BC’s Team Corryn Brown is back at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts after they defeated Team Kayla MacMillan to win the provincial championship.
The Kamloops rink is made up of Corryn Brown, Erin Pincott, Sarah Koltun, Samantha Fisher, Kristen Ryan (alternate) and coach Jim Cotter. Team Brown finished 4-4 at last year's event.
