The Kamloops Blazers have signed centreman Reese Belton to a standard WHL education agreement.
Belton was drafted 97th overall in the fifth round of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft after a 53-point season with the AAA Bantam Winnipeg Monarchs.
The Winnipeg, MB native spent this season with the Winnipeg Wild gathering 16 goals, 27 assists and 43 points in 45 games during his first regular season in the Manitoba Midget AAA League.
Matt Recchi, Director of Player Personnel, commented on the right shot centre’s terrific season with the Winnipeg Wild and potential for next season. “We are excited about his development this season and look forward to watching him challenge for a roster spot in 2018-2019.”
Belton, who stands at 6’1 and 165lbs, will be joining six other players signed by the Blazers following the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft: forward Josh Pillar, drafted 14th overall in the first round, goaltender Dylan Garand (3rd round), defenceman Trevor Thurston (4th round), defenceman Ethan Brandwood (7th round), forward Riley Ginnell (7th round) and forward Daylan Kuefler (10th round).
