For the fifth day in a row, a series of temperature records across British Columbia have been broken.
In a bulletin published today, Environment Canada said the following records were set on Wednesday:
Blue River: New record of 33.8ºC; old record of 31.7ºC set in 1972
Burns Lake: New record of 31.7ºC; old record of 29.8 set in 2023
Cache Creek: New record of 39.5ºC; old record of 36.1 set in 2017
Chetwynd: New record of 33ºC; old record of 30ºC set in 1979
Clearwater: New record of 36.1ºC; old record of 33.3ºC set in 1934
Clinton: New record of 33.3ºC; old record of 31.1ºC set in 2017
Fort Nelson: Tied record of 32.5ºC set in 2023
Kamloops: New record of 37ºC; old record of 35ºC set in 1933
Kitimat: New record of 30ºC; old record of 29.6ºC set in 2023
Lillooet: New record of 39.4ºC; old record of 37.2ºC set in 1934
Lytton: New record of 40.1ºC; old record of 38.2 set in 2017
Mackenzie: New record of 30.6ºC; old record of 28.8ºC set in 1986
Puntzi Mountain: New record of 34.3ºC; old record of 30.6ºC set in 1996
Tatlayoko Lake: New record of 33.7ºC; old record of 32.2ºC set in 1934
Heat warnings remain in place in parts of BC, including Fraser Canyon, inland Vancouver Island, the North Coast and South Thompson.
