Temperature records have fallen across British Columbia for the fourth day in a row.
It comes as the province continues to endure a heat wave.
According to Environment Canada’s preliminary report, several areas topped 40ºC on Wednesday.
Records set yesterday include:
Kelowna: New record of 40.3ºC; old record of 37.2ºC set in 2001
Summerland: New record of 38ºC; old record of 37.2ºC set in 1926
Kamloops: New record of 39.4ºC; old record of 38.9ºC set in 1926
Vernon: New record of 38.2ºC; old record of 35.8ºC set in 2021
Cache Creek (Ashcroft): New record of 40.3ºC; old record of 38.9 set in 1975
The hot and dry weather has led to increased concerns about both heat-related illnesses and wildfires.
Just under 150 wildfires are burning this morning, including one west of Peachland.
