Records set yesterday include:

  • Kelowna: New record of 40.3ºC; old record of 37.2ºC set in 2001

  • Summerland: New record of 38ºC; old record of 37.2ºC set in 1926

  • Kamloops: New record of 39.4ºC; old record of 38.9ºC set in 1926

  • Vernon: New record of 38.2ºC; old record of 35.8ºC set in 2021

  • Cache Creek (Ashcroft): New record of 40.3ºC; old record of 38.9 set in 1975

The hot and dry weather has led to increased concerns about both heat-related illnesses and wildfires.

Just under 150 wildfires are burning this morning, including one west of Peachland.
