“A ridge of high pressure is bringing elevated temperatures to southern BC. High temperatures will moderate on Wednesday,” the warning said.

Some areas could see temperatures upwards to 35ºC combined with overnight lows in the high teens.

Kamloops, Ashcroft and Cache Creek are forecast to hit 34ºC on Monday and 36ºC on Tuesday.

It will dip to 20ºC Monday and Tuesday night.

However, the heat will not last as temperatures will drop back down to the high 20s by Wednesday with more moderate temperatures expected later in the week.

People who are vulnerable to the heat, including seniors, people with pre-existing health conditions, should take extra precautions by staying in cooler areas and drinking plenty of water.

Anyone working outdoors is advised to take regular breaks in the shade and also drink plenty of fluids.
