For a third consecutive day, the Village of Lytton has rewritten the Canadian history books.
According to Environment Canada, Lytton hit 49.6°C on Tuesday, which shatters the new record of 47.9°C that it set on Monday.
That’s 4.6°C higher than the 84-year-old all-time temperature record that Lytton originally beat on Sunday.
At 4:20pm, Lytton Climate Station reported 49.5°C, once again, breaking the daily and all-time temperature records for the 3rd straight day. Final numbers and all other temperature records will be posted later this afternoon. #BCStorm pic.twitter.com/jYpvxM0iIy

In fact, there were a number of hot spots in British Columbia on Tuesday that would have beat that old record of 45°C, which stood from July 5, 1937 until Sunday.
Cache Creek, Grand Forks, Kamloops, Kelowna, Lillooet and Osoyoos all hit 45°C or higher on Tuesday.
There were another 47 temperature records broken in BC on Tuesday, a slight decrease from the 59 records that were set on both Sunday and Monday.
With the ridge of high pressure shifting east over the next 24 to 48 hours, that number should continue to decrease each day.
