Just the five daily temperature records broken in British Columbia on Thursday.
This time Environment Canada said the following areas made history:
Lillooet: Tied record of 36.7ºC, set in 1934
Lytton: New record of 38.8ºC; old record of 37.1ºC set in 1988
Smithers: Tied record of 28.1ºC, set in 2006
Summerland: New record of 31.5ºC; old record of 31.2ºC set in 1995
Tatlayoko Lake: New record of 32.1ºC; old record of 32ºC set in 1988
Only two areas in the province remain under a heat warning this morning: Fraser Canyon south and north (Lytton and Lillooet).
The vast majority of the province is the subject of a special air quality statement, however.
That’s because of wildfire smoke, Environment Canada said, with the situation expected to remain unchanged over the next 24 to 48 hours.
