24 heat records broken in BC on Sunday including one from 1898

It was another scorcher across British Columbia on Sunday.

After a small number of heat records were broken on Saturday, more than 20 historic marks fell on Sunday as people enjoyed summer heat in the middle of spring.

Leading the way was Pemberton, Osoyoos, Cache Creek and Lillooet, as the thermometer surpassed 31°C in all four communities and even touched 32°C in Pemberton.

Along with those four new all-time highs for May 3, daily temperature records were broken in 20 other spots across the province.

Two of the records broken on Sunday had stood for well over a century, as Victoria eclipsed a mark from 1898 and Port Alberni’s previous mark was set in 1907.
