For more than a week, heat records have been surpassed all across the province.
And while the number of records broken each day has slowly dwindled, daily maximum temperature records continue to fall.
On Saturday, four BC communities experienced new highs, with the warmest new record being set in the Creston area.
According to Environment Canada, Creston experienced a high of 33.9℃ yesterday, scooching past the previous high of 33.5℃ set in 2022.
The remaining three records all surpassed benchmarks that were previously set in 2009.
Chetwynd saw a high of 32.2℃ on Saturday, while Dawson Creek experienced 31.6℃.
The final new record was set in the Mackenzie area as members of the community felt a high of 29.1℃ to open the long weekend.
The recent warmer temperatures have brought an increase in wildfire activity across the province and with it a special air quality statement for some areas.
The affected area includes the Chilcotin and Cariboo regions. Environment Canada states that the areas are expected to be impacted by wildfire smoke for the next 24-48 hours.
