Another thunderstorm alert is in place for the southern Interior.
It’s the third straight day that Environment Canada (EC) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the South Thompson and surrounding regions.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” an EC statement explains.
Along with the South Thompson, including Kamloops, the Okanagan, Boundary and Nicola regions are also included in today's alert.
EC also warns of potential thunderstorm activity on the Coquihalla (Hwy 5) and Okanagan Connector (Hwy 97C).
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions,” the statement adds.
Earlier this morning, forecasts didn’t call for a risk of thunderstorms until later in the afternoon, but EC now says they’re possible all day long.
