Drivers heading over several Southern Interior mountain passes are being warned that snow could accumulate through the long weekend as freezing levels fall.
Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt, Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass, and the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kelowna.
The weather agency says the concern applies to Allison Pass, Pennask Summit and Coquihalla Summit, where falling freezing levels will combine with upper-level instability and moisture.
That setup could bring snowfall accumulations at highway summits and passes from this morning through Sunday morning.

The statement comes as many drivers may be heading out for the May long weekend, when lower-elevation spring conditions can give way quickly to winter-like weather in the mountains.
Environment Canada says mountain weather can change suddenly, creating hazardous driving conditions.
Drivers are being advised to slow down, adjust to road conditions and allow extra travel time if conditions deteriorate.
Road conditions are available through DriveBC, and travellers are urged to continue monitoring Environment Canada alerts and forecasts.
