Thunderstorm watch issued for area north of Kamloops

A thunderstorm watch has been issued for the North Thompson.

Kamloops itself is not included in the watch but Heffley Creek, Little Fort, Blackpool and Clearwater are involved.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” says Environment Canada.

The watch warns of damage to roofs, fences, branches and "soft shelters.”

Heavy rain carries the potential for flash flooding and significant reductions in visibility on highways, like Highway 5.

Large hail can also cause damage if it appears.
