Who doesn’t love a delicious taco, chips 'n' salsa, or guac on a sunny Okanagan day? These spots are making delicious Mexican food that pairs perfectly with patios and margaritas. Salud to that!
La Lupita, a Mexican Tapas & Mezcal bar, is just what Kelowna ordered! Located on Water Street in the old Keg building, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious Mexican feast.
If you’re a guac lover (who isn’t?) you have to try their Guacamole en la Mesa – it’s guacamole prepared fresh to order, right at your table, in a traditional molcajete (a vessel cut from the side of a volcano.) They also make delicious tacos with all your favourite traditional fillings – Tinga, Carne Asada, Fish Ceviche, Chorizo, and Carnitas. Pair these with one of their curated Tequila or Mezcal flights and you’re in for a real fiesta.
Hector’s Casa on Pandosy makes wonderful authentic Mexican food with tacos full of authentic flavour. The experience is made even better by the ambiance, which is so festive and welcoming, you’ll feel like you’re in a Mexican cantina.
Try their taco appetizer with three of your choice tacos, or the taquitos, which are essentially deep-fried tacos! The Tacos Costero, made with pan-seared snapper, is another excellent choice for perfect summery fish tacos. Don’t forget to finish off your meal with the fresh Churros Con Chocolate. (cinnamon sugar donuts with ice cream!)
This sweet little gem makes delicious Mexican and El Salvadorian favourites like carnitas tacos and pupusas. Everything is fresh and homemade, and rest assured that literally anything you have off the menu will be fantastic. Find them behind Little Caesar’s Pizza in Rutland.
Teo’s, located in Winfield near the Kangaroo Farm, is another special spot for excellent Mexican food and delicious tacos. Definitely try their smothered burrito with authentic beans and rice, but these guys even do Mexican Breakfast on Sundays – huevos rancheros and margaritas anyone!?
This bright yellow food truck pumps out awesome Mexican fusion tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Handmade corn tortillas, daily roasted meats from Illichmann‘s and so many fresh ingredients. Try their Chicken with tomatillo verde sauce, or the vegan Sweet Chili Tofu.
Bonus: they have plenty of gluten free options too. Find them in the parking lot of One Boardshop for all things delicious on tortillas.
This is not a Mexican restaurant, no, but BNA makes some mean ceviche-style fish tacos on homemade tortillas! Albacore tuna, freshly pressed white corn tortilla, napa cabbage, with a chipotle sauce = fresh, Mexican-inspired, appetizer perfection. For a match made in heaven, pair that with a classic grapefruit and tequila Paloma and a game of bocce ball.
Also not a Mexican restaurant, but these guys know their stuff about seafood, so it’s no surprise that they’ve got killer fish tacos on the menu.
The Table Café is located right inside the Codfathers Seafood Market so you know everything is as fresh as can be, and 100% sustainable. Chef Ross Derrick crafts his killer Baha Style Fish tacos with crispy white fish, chilli lime run, pico de gallo, and lime crema, all on a corn tortilla. Sounds like summertime to me!
