The death of a Kamloops man is now being investigated as a homicide, police say.
The Kamloops RCMP has identified the victim as Mark Hoffman and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) has taken control of the investigation.
According to police, the bodies of Hoffman and his dog were found off Inks Lake Road, within the Logan Lake Community Forest, west of Hwy 5 and south of Kamloops.
The grisly discovery in the popular recreational area was made around 2:40 pm on Saturday, Dec. 16.
In a previous release, the RCMP said the bodies of Hoffman and his dog were found a short distance away from his vehicle, a green Ford Explorer.
“We are urging the public to assist in this investigation,” pleaded Insp. Brent Novakoski from the SED MCU.
“We’re particularly interested in speaking with anyone who had interactions with Mark Hoffman on Dec. 15-16, or anyone who was in the vicinity of the crime scene during that period.”
Police are asking anyone with information into this matter, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact the SED MCU tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
