Despite being in the news more than usual over three gas line hits, Fortis explained that Kamloops is actually "trending in the right direction of reducing gas line damages."

Fortis Spokesperson Diana Sorace mentioned that in light of the recent damages, they want to bring awareness of the importance of contacting BC 1 Call before digging.

"This is important whether digging a small hole in the yard or excavating a job site," wrote Sorace. "When a natural gas line is damaged, it can have serious consequences and interrupt service. You can also be on the hook for costly repairs."
