Investigation for Kamloops shooting remains ongoing, RCMP seeking information

A man was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation that began on July 31, when a woman was shot near Schubert Drive and Richmond Avenue, resulting in serious injuries.

On Aug. 17, the Kamloops General Investigations Support Team, accompanied by frontline officers and members of the Targeted Enforcement and Serious Crimes units, executed search warrants at two locations on the North Shore.

The suspect was taken into custody, then released by police on a series of conditions and a court date.

“Although this incident is believed to be targeted, this kind of offence impacts the safety of a community,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley, the Kamloops RCMP officer in charge. “Addressing such violence and advancing its corresponding investigations remains a priority for our detachment.”

Charge recommendations will be submitted as part of the consideration and approval procedures.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information that may be related is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP as soon as possible at (250) 828-3000 and reference file number 2023-27542.
