Kamloops RCMP have released a surveillance image of a suspect after a man in his 70s was seriously injured in an unprovoked assault at a bus exchange.
Police say the assault happened between 7 and 7:30 a.m. on June 5 at the Lansdowne Bus Exchange in the 400 block of Lansdowne Street.
RCMP received the report later that day, around 1 p.m.
The victim was seated and waiting for a bus when the suspect allegedly approached him without provocation and struck him in the face.
Police say the victim suffered serious injuries and the suspect fled the area.

“Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect captured on surveillance video in an effort to further the investigation,” said Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the Kamloops RCMP.
“As well, we are asking anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage in the area, before and after the assault to call police.”
The suspect is described as an Indigenous man, 20 to 30 years old, with long dark hair.
He was wearing a backwards black hat, white T-shirt, black jeans and work boots, and was carrying a backpack.
“We are very fortunate the victim was not more seriously injured, in what by all accounts, appears to have been a senseless act of violence,” Shoihet said.
“Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have video, information about the identity of the suspect male, or was a witness to the event.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-17928.
