Kelowna’s Myra-Bellevue park to grow by 19 hectares

On Monday, the B.C. government announced it will expand the province’s parks and protected areas system by adding 107 hectares of new land to six existing parks.

Kelowna’s Myra-Bellevue park is one of the six prominent parks chosen and will have its boundaries broadened by 19 hectares, bringing the total area of this park to approximately 7,696 hectares.

According to the government, the additional land contains an open forest, grassland ecosystem and significant wetland.

Situated in the northern section of the park, it also addresses long-standing trespass issues in the area known for mountain biking and hiking trails that intersect within the park.
