Crews are moving onto the next section of Ethel Street this week, which means a new part of the road will be closed.
Starting on Wednesday, Ethel will be closed between Raymer Avenue and Morrison Avenue for phase six of the Ethel Street Active Transportation Corridor project.
The road will be blocked off until "late fall," the City of Kelowna says.
That means detours will be in place for through and local traffic, although pedestrian access will be maintained.
Street parking will be unavailable as well.
“Construction includes separated at-grade cycle tracks on both sides of the road, new roadway, new curbs, gutters and sidewalks, changes to parking, landscaping, LED streetlights and utility improvements,” said a release from the City of Kelowna.
The sixth phase is the final phase of the multi-year project, which has transformed Ethel Avenue between Cawston Avenue and Rose Avenue over the past six years.
The final phase will be split into two segments, however, as the project will finish up with work between Rose Avenue and Raymer Avenue, which is scheduled to take place in the spring.
