According to police, the boat had four occupants when it capsized and three were able to safely make their way to shore.

Unfortunately, the operator of the boat, since identified as a Prince George youth, did not surface and could not be located.

Extensive search efforts have so far been unsuccessful and S/Sgt. Kris Clark says the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team is set to arrive at the lake tomorrow.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and loved ones as they cope with this tragic loss,” noted Clark.

Stony Lake is located around 60 kilometres east of Hwy 97 between Prince George and Quesnel.
