It's all happening more than a mile above sea level at Revelstoke Mountain Resort this summer.
A shiny new suspension bridge, cantilevered viewing platform and cliff-top hiking trail through the only inland temperate rainforest is now open as part of the signature summer attraction Skywalk.
(By the way, I had to look up cantilevered. It means a structure that projects horizontally into space, firmly supported on one end, leaving the other hanging freely. An exciting, scientific and architectural feat.)

To get to this elevated experience, ride the Revelation Gondola to its peak on the mid-west flank of Mount Mackenzie at 5,400 feet or 1,650 metres above sea level.
(By the way, 5,280 feet is a mile or 1.6 kilometres.)
A trail, 300 metres to the northwest, takes you to the 75.5-metre-long suspension bridge anchored to the mountainside linking two rocky points.
The view down to Mt. Begbie, the Columbia Valley and the City of Revelstoke is breathtaking.
Hike up a little higher and step out on the 60-square-metre cantilevered view platform for another awe-inspiring look out with the suspension bridge in the foreground and the aforementioned mountain, valley and city in the distance.

Also at the top is the Mackenzie Outpost restaurant, a picnic area and more hiking trails with names like Splitrock Falls and Kill the Banker.
While the official grand opening for Skywalk is Friday at 2 pm, it fully opened early this week.
Tickets to Skywalk are $50 here.

In the winter, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is legendary for skiers and snowboarders with the most vertical in North America at 5,620 feet of lift-accessed terrain and 3,121 acres of all line skiing, four high-alpine bowls, 75 runs over glades and groomed slopes.
The resort also has Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing.
For the summer it has the new Skywalk supension bridge and viewing platform via the Revelation Gondola, hiking trails, the Pipe Mountain Coaster and lift-accessed and enduro-style mountain bike trails.
