UPDATE: All evacuation alerts for West Kelowna wildfire lifted, state of local emergency ended

(UPDATE: June 18 @ 1:30 pm) - Evacuation alerts have been issued for all 742 households in the Casa Loma and Lakeview Heights area.

They had been in place, and some were previously evacuation orders, since a wildfire sparked in Kalamoir Regional Park on Tuesday.

"It was a quiet night on the fire line, with no major issues reported. Today, seven West Kelowna Fire Rescue staff are patrolling the area, focusing on mop-up and hot spots," explained a Central Okanagan Emergency Management update.

"BC Wildfire crews have concluded operations and left equipment in place to support the ongoing work."

In addition, the statement of local emergency has been ended.

(UPDATE: June 17 @ 5 pm) - Evacuation alerts will remain in place overnight for 742 households in the Casa Loma and Lakeview Heights neighbourhoods.

The alerts, some of which were formerly evacuation orders, were put in place Tuesday due to the wildfire in Kalamoir Regional Park.

While the fire is now considered "under control" by the BC Wildfire Service, crews remain in the park monitoring and addressing hot spots.

"Residents may notice lingering smoke and ongoing movement of firefighting equipment in the area," noted a release from Central Okanagan Emergency Management.

Kalamoir Regional Park will be closed until further notice as damage and safety assessments are completed.

(UPDATE: June 16 @ 6:45 pm) - Evacuation orders have been lifted for all 357 addresses in the Casa Loma and Lakeview Heights neighbourhoods.

This comes around two hours after the wildfire in Kalamoir Regional Park was declared as "being held" by the BC Wildfire Service.

According to Central Okanagan Emergency Management, all 742 addresses that were under some sort of evacuation order or alert due to the fire are still on alert at this time.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the West Kelowna blaze that grew to eight hectares in windy conditions Tuesday is suspected to be human caused.

Sadly, it scorched plenty of land in the beautiful Kalamoir Regional Park, but it doesn't appear as though any structures were destroyed.

(UPDATE: June 16 @ 4:45 pm) - The BC Wildfire Service says the wildfire in West Kelowna's Kalamoir Regional Park is now "being held."

That means, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, the fire is expected to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.

There have been no changes to evacuation orders and alerts at this time.

(UPDATE: June 16 @ 4:05 pm) -- While it looks like Kalamoir wildfire is under control, the wind is unpredictable and the blaze is still considered a risk.

So, an evacuation alert has been issued for wider parts of the Lakeview Heights and Casa Loma area.

An alert is just that, a warning that residents might have to evacuate their homes on a moment's notice if the fire situation worsens.

The alert comes on top of the earlier evacuation orders for core areas of Casa Loma and Lakeview Heights closer to the edge of the fire.

No one has been injured because of the fire and no homes have been lost.

The smoke plume has all but disappeared and no active flames are visable.

Although the ground is definitely scorched and the area continues to smolder.
