As Kelowna's Journey Home Task Force sets its recommendations into motion, there's a must-see film to make sure we don't forget what's at stake. The Task Force is hosting a free screening of the film: "Ending Us and Them". Filmmaker Krista Loughton, stopped-in at KelownaNow ahead of Thursday night's event at the Kelowna Community Theatre.
The film took a decade to make. It breaks through the invisible wall that sometimes exists between those of us who have a warm bed to sleep in and a roof over our head and those who don't. "I felt like there was a disconnect," said Filmmaker Krista Loughton. "There's a misunderstanding about what's required to actually fix the situation."
Viewers of the film meet a series of people and then they learn about their past lives. In the case of one of them, Dawnelda, it's images of her previous life that are most jarring. "There's audible gasps when those images come up on the screen," said Loughton. "Because she looks like a completely different person."
The screening is at 6 p.m., but at last word it was sold-out.
