Okanagan FC wins seventh straight in KMSL Division 1 play

All is coming up sevens for the newly formed Okanagan FC in the Kelowna Men’s Soccer League.

A 7-0 win over the DekSmart Railing FC this week improved the Division 1 team’s early-season unbeaten record to 7-0 and boosted its goal differential to a division-best 19.

Second-place Mission Cleaners FC (5-1-1) had their hands full with Turn-Key Controls (1-4-2) edging the cellar-dwellers 3-2.

Led by Matthew Reese’s four goals — bringing his season total to a division-leading 13 — JVL FC took over third place with a 6-0 victory over Carlton Athletic FC at Mission Sports Fields.

In games next week (Monday), Okanagan FC will take on the Peachland Football Club at Mission 14 and Mission Cleaners meets Carlton Athletic FC at Rutland Sports Fields. DekSmart will attempt to get back on track when they go against JVL at Kettle Valley. All games begin at 6:30 p.m.

Division 2

Titan Industrial Celtic and Apna FC 2 Kelowna Toyota remain in a tie for first place in Division 2 after posting victories on Tuesday.

Titan (5-1-2) got two-goal efforts from Jonah Kipnis, Sean Murphy and Tristain Moench and single tallies from Ryan Aujla and Jorge Angel-Mira in an 8-1 defeat of Iris Optometry Wave FC (3-3-2). . Lars Seitzinger was the lone scorer in a losing cause for the Wave.

Four games are scheduled for Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Kon Kast meets Titan at Mission 14, Apna FC plays Form and Finish FC at Mission 13, Jurome Realty goes against Iris Optometry at City Park and Kelowna RV takes on the Milk Men at Rutland 4.

Ashlee Davison scored three times and Carmen Lindsay added a pair of goals to lead first-place Royal Star to a 7-5 win over last-place Voyager RV on Wednesday at Mission Sports Fields.

Gurpreet Saini and Gurbir Dhlal added a goal apiece for Royal Star (7-0) while Haylee Lakovic scored twice for Voyager (1-5). Katrina Wanner, Christy Blackburne and Michelle Blackburne chipped in with a goal each in a losing cause.

Play resumes on Wednesday when Royal Star takes on Peacock Sheridan Group at Rutland Sports Fields and Clydesdale’s meets Voyager RV at Mission 10.

Both games begin at 6:30 p.m.
