Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Kamloops area.
The alert is in effect for the South Thompson, Nicola and both Central and North Okanagan.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” the alert says.

The Environment Canada forecast shows that thunderstorms are possible until 8 pm.
Radar forecasts suggest that the chance of rain and thunder in the area is best later this afternoon and into the evening.
Environment Canada warns that lightning kills and injures Canadians every year, advising people to head indoors if they hear thunder roar.
