Randy Sunderman is hoping for a post on Kamloops city council in the Oct. 15 general election.
Sunderman is the president of Peak Solutions Consulting which provides consulting services for businesses across Canada.
He has been active in the community for many years and has sat on several boards and committees.
That includes the Community Futures Thompson Country, Venture Kamloops business care program, the Aberdeen Neighbourhood Association, Kamloops Voters Society, The city’s Revitalization Tax Exemption Committee and the Kamloops Area Preservation Association.
He is also a member of the Kamloops Kiwanis Club and Kamloops Chamber of Commerce.
“Through inclusive, responsible, and transparent decision-making, we will make Kamloops shine,” states Sunderman.
A few of his priorities include fiscal responsibility which includes proposing that all of the council be on the city’s finance committee and more reporting be done on cost saving measures.
He also would like to see the introduction of an expert public panel to identify highest value neighbourhood projects to ensure funds go where they are needed.
Other priorities include addressing safety and security concerns by addressing street level issues and diversifying and growing the housing stock and supporting climate action, local business and more community engagement.
Residents of Kamloops can learn more about Sunderman, and all the other candidates, at the all candidates forum being hosted by the Chamber of Commerce in TRU's Grand Hall on Oct. 4 from 6:15 pm to 9 pm.
